Yes my time is so limited that I currently don't even consider recording it. But I do read it out loud as I write so it really is just about convenience. I intend to do revordings of the back catalogue in future.
This is the sweetest. My daughter is now 14, but just last night we were talking about how, when she was three, I lay down with her every night on her tiny toddler mattress and held her hand as she fell asleep. I remember at the time having "preemptive nostalgia" - that sense of already missing the present moment. This bit of writing captures that sense so well.
Agree! You should definitely read this poem aloud, David. Or ask your spouse or a friend to read. Scary as that is for some of us, it adds such an integral human layer to the experience of a poem—like all music. Beautiful work.
Wow, so beautiful. And what a simple moment to capture in words but always so magical. Every now and then I still hold my sleeping 16month old and it's always the soft hands that stop time and my racing thoughts.
Exactly this Kym. I think its a feeling I never knew and feel I'll probably never know again in the same way once I am through this phase of life. Good to capture and keep.
I LOVE this! What gorgeous rhythm and woven rhymes. What a sweet sentiment. This would kill as spoken word.

Great to hear from you Mike!
