Clouds of smokey small talk

Snuck behind the shed.

I love this cheeky two liner :)

Really love your use of language in this one, David. The vocabulary choices, the repetition, and the play with verbs were all quite fun.

And, great photo collage! Very fitting intro, but good on its own, too. Do you go out often to photograph? (I'm trying to remind myself to get out there more, now that the seasons are changing.)

Honestly I don't get out enough and I'd struggle to recall the last time I did it regularly. I had a good day out in town over the summer but that was a one off. Like many things it went on the back burner for a while as life took its toll.. but as with all the things I love to do I intend always to get back to it again when I can. I'm just happy I've found a regular space for my writing these days and I'll try build on that. I have a lot I've never shared so I'll get it out there eventually but new stuff would be great too.

Thanks for the comment and the kind words - such great fuel. 🙏

I don't know if the line is a beginning, a connection, a boundary, or something else completely. The meaning and feel of the words shifts depending on how I think of it. And that's kind of fun.

Awesome, it was that way writing it too. There is an abstraction there.

I can't put my finger on what makes me want to read this over and over, but I do!

Admittedly it's a bit abstract. Let me know what you find, if you find anything at all. Either way, I hope you enjoy 😊

I’m finding a lot! It feels a little bit like gathering pretty rocks—I’m grabbing so many that they keep slipping out of my hands before I can count them (or something; I’m hungry, so my thoughts are getting a little loopy—off to make lunch).

Love it, yes i get it. I get it completely!

Lovely. I’ve missed your posts!

David Donoghue's avatar

Ah that is seriously nice of you to say. I've missed posting. It's one of the hard parts about doing this in seasons. I do find it difficult to post more isolated/unique things like this in between seasons as I am generally focussed on building up a new collection to post. But I do my best and it makes it was easier with lovely comments like this 🙏🙏🙏

It’s also important to take that time away to create. I just planned out the next couple months of posts so I can spend time on newer work.

'A line inside

A line

That never ends

In you, a line.'

Lovely fresh writing David! A really imaginative topic.
